THE RACE to SUB-ZERO (2017)
In 2017, TODO’s river rats launched a pilot project on the Chicago River with local university researchers as part of Patagonia's Environmental Grants program. THE RACE to SUB-ZERO was the first-ever citizen science program to address litter on the Chicago River. In 2018, Patagonia’s Environmental Grants program afforded TODO the opportunity to engage even more citizen-scientists, as we integrated THE RACE into the Chicago River Clean Sweep framework. You don’t need a PhD to make a river happy - we’re all scientists at the Clean Sweep!
